State-funded Preschool Information

NEW!- AGE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR STATE-FUNDED PRESCHOOL 2025-26

 

AGE ELIGIBILITY

  • 3-year-olds: Children born between 9/2/2021 to 12/01/2022.  Children who turn 3 years old by December 1, 2025
  • 3-year-olds born after 12/2/2022 may still be considered for enrollment, but may not necessarily start at the beginning of the school year on August 13, 2025. Start date for younger children will be determined at the discretion of the District Office.

  • TK Eligibility: Children born 9/2/2020 - 9/1/2021 are eligible to enroll in Transitional Kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year. Please visit TK Information
  • Kindergarten Eligibility: Children born 9/2/2019 - 09/01/2020 are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2025-26 school year.  Please visit: Kindergarten Information  

 

 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR STATE-FUNDED PRESCHOOL (2024-25)

AGE ELIGIBILITY

  • 4-year-olds: Children born between 6/3/2020 to 12/1/2020
  • 3-year-olds: Children born between 12/2/2020 to 12/1/2021
  • 3-year-olds born after 12/1/2021 may still be considered for enrollment, but may not necessarily start at the beginning of the school year on August 21, 2024. Start date for younger children will be determined at the discretion of the District Office.
  • If your child is born between 9/2/2019-6/2/2020, they are eligible for Transitional Kindergarten. Please contact your neighborhood school directly for enrollment information or visit the district webpage about Transitional Kindergarten.
  • Children with a 5th birthday between September 2, 2023 and September 1, 2024 (born between September 2, 2018 and September 1, 2019) are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. Kindergarten Information

 

Income Eligibility for State-Funded Preschool:

Eligibility for enrollment is based upon State-Funded & Head Start Income Criteria.

To be eligible, a family must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Family is income-eligible based on state and federal low income guidelines
  • Family is a current recipient of aid (TANF,SSI,SNAP, Cal fresh, CALWorks)
  • Family is homeless (or living with another family due to financial hardship)
  • Referral from Child Protective Services 

Head Start/State-Funded 6-hour classes require eligibility of both State and Federal income guidelines. State-Funded 3.5-hour classes require eligibility of State income guidelines only.
